The Shortly After Takeoff STUDY GUIDE provides a selection of research questions, discussion topics, class activities, and writing exercises for high-school theater, history, and English classes.

The Study Guide features an annotated REFERENCE LIST, which includes relevant books, articles, websites, and videos about the 1960s, the Civil Rights Movement, and the Vietnam War.

ADDITIONAL AVAILABLE PROGRAMS:

* Post-show talkbacks and Q&As with professional Equity cast members, the director, and the playwright can be scheduled, covering such topics as working in the NY theater, the rehearsal process, etc.

* In-class workshops and discussions, led by the playwright, can also be scheduled, prior to and/or after viewing the play. Topics include:

- Structuring a play
- Building a character
- Breaking down the text
- Finding a play's overall arc
- Finding and illustrating the play's message
